Killpretty
Hardcore roots, melodic edge — the story so far
Killpretty's sound was born from hardcore roots fused with rap-metal energy, defined by the interplay between clean vocals and heavier, more aggressive vocal parts. The result: songs that hit hard and lift you up at the same time. The band jokingly called their style "relationship metal," since so many of their songs sprang from the messy territory between love and hate — a dynamic, versatile sound with clear hit potential, primed to reach a wide audience through strong distribution.
Killpretty's debut demo, You Might Be Better Off With Someone Else, I Will Never (2000), sold out fast and drew positive media attention. The following year's EP, Marching On To The Agony's Last Edge, pushed interest even further and kicked off an extensive run of live shows. In December 2005, Killpretty became the first Finnish band to launch a video blog on their website.
Over the course of their career, Killpretty played more than 130 live shows, consistently drawing young, enthusiastic crowds, and built a reputation for their high-energy performances. Selling over 1,500 records independently — through shows and direct sales on their site — the band did it all without outside backing, with Melodica Skateboards standing for a long time as their only commercial sponsor.
